Wonderful world of JOALI BEING

Turkish wellness culture dates back thousands of years and JOALI BEING brings the best of Turkish wellness to the Maldives. The entire property is heavily influenced by Turkish owner and entrepreneur Esin Gural Argat. General Manager Ozgur Cengiz is also Turkish and the theme continues from the architecture, art, treatments, food and even the traditional greeting.

JOALI BEING also takes things to a new level with an immersive spa experience to rival those offered by world-renowned wellness properties such as SHA Clinic,Spain, or Ananda in the Himalayas. Treatments here are based on four pillars – mind, skin, microbiome and energy – and guests can sign up for a program tailored to their needs, or choose treatments a la carte.

There is a hydrotherapy centre that includes a Russian banya, an Aufguss sauna , a watsu room and a salt room built of pink Himalayan salt bricks. A herbology centre, where you can learn how to make your own tea or oil blends, and a huge fitness centre that comes with Technogym equipment, a boxing studio, Pilates reformer racks and the first cryo-chamber in the Maldives.

Then there is the Ocean Sala, where you can try your hand at antigravity yoga or join the meditation sessions on the oceanfront deck, and 39 treatment rooms for a maximum of 136 guests.

Ozgur shared that he and Esin travelled the world researching many of the top retreats during their in-depth planning stage and it is obvious this was a mission on which they plan to succeed, even if the Maldives is a destination not yet synonymous with wellness.

Oh and they just happen to be set in one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, where you can experience incredible wildlife encounters like diving with manta rays just 15 minutes from the island.

I was lucky enough to visit JOALI BEING last month and you can read my review here
